In 2023, we welcomed almost 2.4 million visitors from Mainland Europe to the island of Ireland, who spent over €2 billion during their time here. Mainland Europe is now the largest single source of revenue, by market area, for the island of Ireland. In 2023, Mainland Europe delivered around one-third (32%) of all overseas tourism revenue and one-third (29%) of all overseas visitors (also 31% of holidaymakers and 29% of holiday revenue).
Tourism Ireland promotes the island of Ireland in nine Mainland European markets – Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordic region, Austria and Switzerland.
